The sun was barely rising on the morning of June 6, 1944, casting a somnolent light over the windswept beaches of Normandy. Yet, amidst this tranquil backdrop, chaos was about to unfold. As the clock struck 06:30, thousands of brave men were preparing to storm the very shores where their fates, and indeed the fate of Europe, would be irrevocably altered. This day, known as D-Day, marked the commencement of Operation Overlord, a colossal undertaking that would see Allied forces launch the largest amphibious invasion in military history.

As waves crashed against the Normandy coastline, the horizon was filled with an armada of ships, from enormous landing crafts to nimble destroyers. They carried soldiers from all corners of the globe: American, British, Canadian, and many others, each with their own stories, dreams, and hopes of liberation. Prior to the landings, extensive planning had taken months, if not years, to ensure that every element was in place. Paratroopers had already dropped behind enemy lines in the early hours, tasked with securing vital locations. Meanwhile, naval bombardments rained down on fortified German positions, attempting to soften the defences before the waves of infantry surged ashore.
